Reusable Pads & OB Tampons...WRONG!

Did you even know that they existed? We chat about WHY? Why would someone use reusable pads or even those crazy little OB tampons? It's difficult for me to even say "reusable pad" without laughing! Clearly a man, who by the way would never wash one out himself, must have invented this pad. Hey...thanks so much for joining us today...remember to leave a comment and become a Follower.

OK, so I feel that your blog should actually figure out a way to be a conference call -- with Skype maybe? -- because there's just too much I want to say, except that I'm laughing so hard I can speak so maybe it's just as well that you two do all the talking.

Okay, so this topic makes me glad for my hysterectomy and that I don't have to worry about that anymore (even though I am hotflashing and sweating on the keyboard as I type)! NO WAY! I would never have bought that! Of course, I wouldn't have done the wash out diapers either. I love the way ya'll talk about this though!! Laughing over the OB is hysterical!!

I haven't watched the video yet because my kids are hovering. They are nosy little boys and I so do not want to go there with them.

Thanks for the follow. I returned one to you.

Will check out the clip when I get some privacy.

Ewww! to washing out pads. I don't do cloth diapers either. I will just recycle other things to make up for my landfill usage there. I must admit I am slightly addicted to those cheap checkout stand mags and recently read about menstrual cups, that gets an Ewwww! too. Love watching you guys.

Thanks for stopping by.

First of all, this is one of my favourite layouts I've ever seen.

Secondly, being a man, I am finding it hard to understand what the big deal about this is. I mean, we reuse handkerchiefs, right?

I haven't watched the clip b/c my computer isn't cooperating. I do try to be as green as possible. I have used tampons without applicators and I do buy organic tampons w/ cardboard applicators--I HATE PLASTIC. Yes, it is more comfortable, but it is so bad for the planet. I rarely use pads, but when I do, I also buy organic ones. I have considered washable ones that are available on Etsy, but have never done it. I am not opposed to it, but clearly since I haven't yet explored that avenue, it may never happen.

I do think we should all boycott plastic applicators and at least use the cardboard. Tampons without applicators are something I'm slowly getting used to.

Just my two cents!

Eeewwwyuck! Cotton is biodegradable, right? Have you seen that little cup thingie? I can't remember what its' called right at the moment (probably blocked it from my conscious mind for a reason) but you insert it and it literally collects like a cup would and then you remove, wash, sanitize and reinsert. This happens like twice a day - so I'm told.

OK so I tried the 'cup thingie' which is called a Mooncup. It's no worse than a tampon, especially one without an applicator. It's really comfortable, you can't feel it at all. It takes a few time to get used to the application but it's no worse than tampons - remeber the first time you use one of those! I don't use it all the time and switch between different methods, but I definately find it 'cleaner' (if that's the right word) and more comfortable at the heaviest time than pads. It's great for us that we have so many choices regarding this, so many women throughout the world do not.

Every thing has its advantages and disadvantages. Tampons are very comfortable than pads and it offers more freedom. But one has to be cautious for tampons, if one forget to remove it on time, then it may lead to bad smell, bacteria forms, thus leading to infections. It may also cause TSS disease. One can use tampon but has should be alert. If anytime tampon is not getting removed or facing some problems, one immediately go to gynaecologist. For more details on it, refer Tampon instructions

Let me start out with this: I am NOT an overly green person. I recycle, that's about it. I've used disposable pads, ob tampons and now cloth pads and a cup. They are the best things EVER! If you just wash your hands well before and after inserting a tampon or cup, there shouldn't be any higher risk of infection. The initial cost is higher than what you spend for one month's pads/tampons, but over a matter of months, the cost is the same and you don't run out. Cloth pads do not give me a rash like disposables did. They do not have to be thick and bulky. My cup is made of medical grade silicone (and is FDA approved) so it's easy to clean and there have been no reports of TSS associated with cup use. It isn't drying like a tampon can be near the end of your period. It holds more than a super plus tampon and I cannot feel it when it's in. There is no string hanging out of me. You can wear a cup when you're expecting your period, instead of wearing a pad in anticipation. Some people have a light enough flow to only have to empty their cups twice a day. I could go on and on. Ultimately I love my cup and cloth pads because they're saving me money and they're more comfortable and I feel cleaner while having my period.

Okay so why does the video on reusable pads and ob tampons come up as private? I would love to watch the video, but when it links to youtube it says you must log in to see this video.
